VITAS Celebrates Nurses Week 2018

For 16 consecutive years, public polls have indicated nursing is considered the most honest and ethical field of employment. It’s a reputation that’s taken to heart by nurses, who comprise the country’s largest healthcare profession.
In 2017 there were more than 4 million professionally active U.S. nurses working in environments that included hospitals, doctors’ offices, home healthcare services and nursing care facilities, according to the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation.
The sterling image of nurses and their remarkable versatility are two reasons VITAS® Healthcare is celebrating National Nurses Week, May 6–12, 2018. The last day of the celebration, May 12, coincides every year with the birthday of Florence Nightingale, born in 1820 and viewed as the founder of modern nursing.
