Our Message to Veterans: "Job Well Done and We're Behind You"

VITAS Healthcare is proud to honor and care for our veterans every day of the year, including this Veterans Day.

"What we need to do for veterans, and on every Veterans Day, is to recognize them and not only say, 'job well done,' but to say, 'job well done and we're behind you,'"" says Larry Robert, VITAS Chaplain and Veterans Liaison.

He says it's important for everyone to realize that military service is not just one person's job, but that we're all involved in the effort.

Veterans Day is a perfect reminder to let veterans know that they’re not alone, Larry says. “We're in this together as a country, to serve you, to help you, in whatever ways that we can.”

At VITAS, caring for veterans is a team effort, and it's about more than our patients. Through community outreach programs, we help recognize and support veterans and educate others.

Many VITAS hospice locations work in cooperation with We Honor Veterans, a pioneering program of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) focused on respectful inquiry, compassionate listening and grateful acknowledgment of veterans.
