VITAS Healthcare Sponsors Deep South Cycling Event to Raise Money for Cancer Patients

Feb. 25, 2015 - VITAS Healthcare is helping raise money for cancer patients and their families in the Birmingham area by sponsoring a new cycling event.

Cycliad is a 1,300 mile, four-weekend challenge that begins April 9 in Chattanooga, Tenn, and ends May 3 in Birmingham, Ala.

Money raised will support patients and programs of the University of Alabama Birmingham Health System Cancer Community Network, which touches almost 70,000 cancer patients in a five-state region in the Deep South.

In addition to sponsoring the event, VITAS played a role in the creation of a promotional video (shown above) that demonstrates the shared journey among cancer patients and those who are actively working to help through cycling.

“We are committed to challenging one another physically to remind those battling cancer that they can count on our support and do not have to face their challenges alone,” said French Forbes, executive director of the Deep South Cancer Foundation.
