VITAS Healthcare Brings Expertise in Risk Mitigation and Value-Based Care to APG Conference in San Diego

04/18/2018

Miami, FL, April 18, 2018—VITAS® Healthcare, the nation’s leading provider of end-of-life care, will be a contributing sponsor for the America’s Physician Groups national conference, “Taking Responsibility for America’s Health,” held April 19-21, 2018 at the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego.

At the conference, VITAS will meet with physician group leaders and independent practice associations to demonstrate the value of hospice and palliative care for their practices. Consistent with the focus of the APG event, VITAS works with patients' physicians to deliver high-quality care that is also cost-effective—two key factors that define value-based care in today’s healthcare environment.

“Shifting to risk-based care can be daunting for physicians and physician groups. VITAS has 40 years of experience and results in caring for complex, seriously ill patients under capitated, coordinated care models,” says Dr. Alen Voskanian, MD, MBA, VITAS Regional Medical Director for California and a 2017 member of the Health Innovators Fellowship sponsored by the Aspen Institute Global Leadership Network.

"When high- and rising-risk patients can be where they want to be near the end of life, quality rises and costs fall,” he points out. “A VITAS partnership brings an interdisciplinary team, mobile-first technology and care planning strategies that help physicians mitigate risks, reduce costs and improve quality across the continuum of care—key elements of success in today’s healthcare delivery system.”

VITAS representatives will be available at Exhibit Booth 319 during the April 20 Exhibit Fair. Joining Dr. Voskanian at APG will be VITAS medical directors Michael Nisco, MD of San Francisco and Chalat Rajaram, MD of Orange County. In March, Dr. Nisco was named a 2018 Visionary Leader by the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
