What to Say to a Veteran

VITAS Healthcare is proud to honor and care for military veterans every day of the year, but Veterans Day is especially poignant. In recognition of the courage and pain so many veterans have experienced, VITAS posted the video “What to Say to a Veteran: Hospice Care for Heroes.”

Job Well Done and We're Behind You

The one-minute video features VITAS Chaplain and Veterans Liaison Larry Robert of Atlanta, who explains: “What we need to do for veterans—and on every Veterans Day—is to not only say, ‘Job well done’ but ‘Job well done and we’re behind you.’”

Larry believes it’s important to remind military veterans that they’re not alone in recognizing the sacrifices they made as servicemen or women or the pain—be it physical, emotional or psychological—they might be experiencing as a result of their service to our country.

We're in this Together

“We all must remind military veterans that ‘We’re in this together as a country, to serve you, to help you in whatever ways that we can,’” says Larry.

Through its many veterans liaisons and their community outreach programs, VITAS helps to recognize and support military veterans across the nation and to educate others about veterans’ unique needs, especially at the end of life, and how hospice can help meet those needs.

“We all must remind military veterans that, ‘We’re in this together as a country, to serve you, to help you, in whatever ways that we can.’”
