Associate Medical Director
David Munoz is an Associate Medical Director for VITAS Healthcare, the nation’s leading provider of end-of-life care. Dr. Munoz oversees the medical care and treatment of VITAS patients in their homes, nursing homes, assisted living communities and personal care homes in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He also consults with patients’ attending physicians, supervises VITAS team physicians, guides staff and volunteers, and serves as a resource to practicing physicians and other healthcare professionals on the benefits of hospice and palliative care for patients and their families.
Dr. Munoz joined VITAS in 2016. Prior to joining VITAS, he served as Attending Physician for Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he specialized in Geriatrics. Before that, he served as Attending Physician for Lakeshore Medical Clinic in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Earlier in his career, Dr. Munoz conducted research on the effects of substances on acetylcholine receptors at the Universidad Central del Caribe in Bayamon, Puerto Rico and served as a Laboratory Assistant for Cell Biology Lab.
Dr. Munoz earned an Associate Degree in Natural Sciences and a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico. He earned a Medical Degree from the Universidad Central del Caribe. He completed a Family Practice residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and fellowship in Geriatric Medicine at Sinai Samaritan Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Geriatric Society and the American Medical Association.
