VITAS Texas programs have earned hospice accreditation from these esteemed organizations:
The Joint Commission
The VITAS Dallas, Houston, Fort Worth and San Antonio programs have achieved accreditation from the prestigious Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). The Joint Commission is a not-for-profit organization that accredits and certifies more than 17,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States, including hospice providers. JCAHO status certifies that a hospice program meets strict Medicare and Joint Commission standards and symbolizes that quality of care expected from VITAS Healthcare.
National Institute for Jewish Hospice
The VITAS Houston, Fort Worth, and VITAS Dallas programs are three of fewer than 50 hospice organizations accredited by the National Institute for Jewish Hospice (NIJH). NIJH was founded in 1985 to address the Jewish community’s end-of-life care needs. Its recent accreditation efforts focus on providing onsite training to U.S. hospice programs, geriatric centers and hospitals.
Texas and New Mexico Hospice Organization
The VITAS Dallas, Houston, Fort Worth and San Antonio programs are proud members of the Texas and New Mexico Hospice Organization (TNMHO). Founded in 1983, the TNMHO promotes compassionate care for terminally ill patients. Additionally, the TNMHO offers multidisciplinary hospice care education to those who dedicate their profession to terminally ill patients.
