Medical Director - Northern Virginia
Patricia Ladisa is a Medical Director for VITAS Healthcare, the nation’s leading provider of end-of-life care. Dr. Ladisa oversees the medical care and treatment of VITAS patients in their homes, nursing homes, assisted living communities and personal care homes in Northern Virginia. She also consults with patients’ attending physicians, supervises VITAS team physicians, guides staff and volunteers, and serves as a resource to practicing physicians and other healthcare professionals on the benefits of hospice and palliative care for patients and their families.
Dr. Ladisa, known for her soft touch and outstanding communication skills, joined VITAS in 2009. In 2011, Dr. Ladisa was a recipient of VITAS’ prestigious Leadership Council award in the category of outstanding medical director. She is a member of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, the American College of Physicians and the American Medical Association.
Board certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine and in Internal Medicine, Dr. Ladisa received a bachelor’s degree from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, and a master’s degree in public health from George Washington University School of Public Health and Health Services in Washington, D.C. She received a medical degree from George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. She completed an internship and residency program in internal medicine at George Washington University Hospital and a fellowship in palliative care at George Washington University Medical Center.
