VITAS Benefits Give Employees Peace of Mind
A career at VITAS Healthcare comes with flexible benefits that meet our employees’ financial and personal needs. VITAS benefits, which are offered to any employee who works 30 hours or more per week, are designed to support employees as they deal with unexpected hurdles, including health issues.
VITAS employee Noemi Howell was facing just such a hurdle.
Noemi, who works in special contracts services support in the VITAS corporate office in Miami, FL, had to undergo surgery to repair a herniated disk. As she lay in her hospital bed at the University of Miami Hospital recovering from the procedure, Noemi was in pain, but she felt a certain peace of mind.
She knew that the expenses she would incur from her overnight stay at the hospital would be covered because she had purchased a subsidized voluntary hospital indemnity policy that was made available as part of the VITAS benefits package.
No questions asked
After her surgery, all Noemi had to do to get her payment through her hospital indemnity policy was submit her hospital bill. Barely four business days later, she received a check made out to her to use at her discretion.
Noemi had the flexibility to use the money toward her hospital bill, or toward her health insurance deductible, or to cover any other expenses associated with her hospital confinement (ambulance services, prescriptions or doctors’ fees), or even groceries or household bills.
At VITAS, we take of each other
Noemi’s story illustrates the importance placed on employee welfare and support at VITAS. VITAS ensures that the range of benefits and resources offered cover life and work issues, whether it is professional development, health problems or personal stress.
