The Palliative Care General Manager provides operational leadership for VITAS palliative care services. Identifies markets to initiate palliative care services and manage the roll-out of services. Directs involvement in the recruitment and hiring of local palliative care administrators. Oversees compliance with national, state and local regulatory requirements. Partners with VITAS Health-care Corporation Corporate employees to establish and managethe infrastructure required to support day-to-day business functions. Partners with the Palliative Care National Medical Director to ensure appropriate clinical direction is provided to clinical staff. Develops and oversees metrics that demonstrate program impact related to quality and financials. Identifies opportunities to improve the patient and family care experience. Oversees the design and development of marketing collateral and strategies. Leads regularly scheduled meetings with local palliative care program management to oversee operational and administrative functions. Coordinates ongoing strategic planning for the palliative care program. Oversees program budget and employee staffing and the design and development of educational strategies for internal and external customers. Partners with appropriate internal and external groups to establish managed care partnerships and contracts. Co-spokesperson with the National Medical Director for the palliative care program internally and externally.
Qualified candidates must have a minimum five years management and leadership experience. Organizational design and project management experience. Ability to communicate tactfully, verbally and in writing with department heads, managers, coworkers and vendors to resolve problems and negotiate resolutions. Working knowledge of computers, internet access, and the ability to navigate within an automated systems as well as a variety of software packages such as Outlook, Excel and Word.
Bachelor’s degree. Master level degree or higher preferred.
