VITAS Celebrates National Volunteer Week 2018

04/15/2018

Volunteer workers play a significant role for hospice providers, so VITAS is pleased to celebrate April 15-21 as National Volunteer Week. However, it goes without saying that we cherish our volunteer workforce year-round!

VITAS offers hospice volunteer opportunities that allow you to choose a role in which you feel comfortable and fulfilled.

Super VITAS Volunteer

Our volunteers' dedication to patient-centered care breathes life into important VITAS initiatives, to include facilitating Paw-Pal® visits, sewing Memory Bears and taking patients near the end of life on outings, from their backyard to grocery shopping to a baseball game. VITAS volunteers also perform clerical activities, check on patients by phone and join patients in reminiscing.

It’s hard to overstate the degree to which VITAS appreciates the selfless Americans for whom National Volunteer Week was established in 1974.
