One in eight American women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, and in 2017 an estimated 40,000 will die of it.¹ Many breast cancer patients spend months or years on curative treatments for their disease.
When those treatments stop providing improvement, patients may feel as if they’ve “lost the battle.” At VITAS® Healthcare, nothing could be further from the truth. We believe that acceptance of one’s situation—with all its implications—is a true act of courage.
Awareness and Remembrance
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, VITAS honors our patients with breast cancer, as well as those we have lost and the loved ones who cared for them.
Our care teams understand the unique needs and concerns of patients with breast cancer and are dedicated to providing compassionate care where the patient feels most comfortable—at home.
VITAS supports the missions of the National Breast Cancer Foundation and the American Cancer Society. We pledge our support with local sponsorships and participation in events such as the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks.
