VITAS San Antonio

Native San Antonian Donna Oviedo has worked for VITAS for 16 years and was promoted to general manager of VITAS San Antonio in May 2009. She was one of the first two employees hired to start the San Antonio office in 1993; for her early work, she earned the Outstanding Pioneer Award in 1994 and was inducted into President’s Club in 1995.

Before taking on the role of general manager, Donna worked as a VITAS representative, then as senior director of market development. In the latter role, she increased the average number of patients under VITAS care from 350 to 600 and doubled the number of patients receiving care at assisted living facilities. Donna also was instrumental in promoting La Esperanza Eterna, VITAS’ first Spanish-speaking team. She was inducted into the VITAS Leadership Council in 2005 for her work as director of market development.

From 2006 to 2009, Donna served as regional director of market development and oversaw VITAS programs in Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio and St. Louis, where she recruited, coached and mentored regional representatives and directors of market development.

Donna earned a BBA in marketing from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio.
