Emotional and Spiritual Care

Hospice care surrounds patients and their families with a variety of therapeutic services and resources that ensure quality of life at the end of life. Patients find comfort and peace from music therapy and visits from our pre-screened, furry Paw Pals pets and their volunteer owners. Hospice teams are also specially trained to provide spiritual/pastoral care, care that honors traditions and teachings of the Jewish faith, and care that understands and honors the unique experiences of military veterans as they approach the end of life.

Jewish Care

All VITAS patient care teams and volunteers are trained in the beliefs, customs, philosophies and ethics of both practicing and non-practicing Jews.

Music Therapy

VITAS offers music therapy in most areas, which can bind with other therapeutic efforts to address the physical, emotional, cognitive and social needs of hospice patients.

Pastoral Care

Each hospice team includes a chaplain who provides pastoral care to both the patient and family. He or she is able to offer or arrange support to help them through non-medical issues and challenges.

Paw Pals® Pet Visits

Our hospice pet volunteers and their owners offer a welcome distraction from illness and help people feel a little less lonely.
