Ursula Whisner, RN, Promoted to Director of Market Development for VITAS Innovative Hospice Care® of Central Florida

Orlando, Florida, August 7, 2007—Ursula Whisner, RN, of Winter Springs, has been promoted to director of market development for VITAS Innovative Hospice Care® of Central Florida. She joined VITAS in 2004 as a hospital and physician representative.

In her new position, Whisner will oversee sales, develop and implement department goals, maintain contact with referral sources and recruit, and train and mentor VITAS representatives, who educate the Central Florida community and referral sources about hospice and VITAS.

“Ursula came to VITAS with a wealth of hospice experience and has been instrumental in the growth of VITAS in Central Florida by building relationships and educating the community about hospice,” says Carmen Demos, RN, VITAS general manager. “She is an advocate for our patients and their families and works to ensure that the community knows about hospice and about VITAS.”

Whisner brings a decade of experience as a care provider, administrator and hospice team leader to her new position. Prior to joining VITAS, Whisner served as clinical team leader for LifePath Hospice in Lakeland, Florida. Before that, she was administrator of Caring Hearts Assisted Living Facility in Lake Mary, Florida. Her career also has included working as a subacute charge nurse, unit director and external care coordinator for Island Lake Center, a skilled nursing facility in Longwood, Florida.

Whisner earned an RN degree from Brandywine Hospital School of Nursing in Coatesville, Pennsylvania.
