VITAS’ Access Initiative aims to close the end-of-life care gap for African Americans, Hispanics, people of color, veterans and the Jewish community.
Statistics tell us that nearly 36 percent of people in Florida will die today without the benefit of hospice care—they also tell us that a disproportionate number of African Americans, Hispanics and other people of color never receive appropriate end-of-life care, never receive information about the kinds of care available and never even know that hospice is covered by Medicare and Medicaid. That’s why VITAS partners with the organizations listed below to ensure that people in traditionally underserved communities have the information and access they need to make informed choices about end-of-life care.
