Hospice care for patients with Lung Disease

If you are reading this, it is likely you or someone you love has been waging a difficult physical and emotional battle against COPD or other form of lung disease, such as bronchiectasis, chronic asthma, pulmonary fibrosis, cystic fibrosis or tuberculosis. VITAS knows your search for comfort, support and answers does not stop when you decide to discontinue treatment or respiratory support. That’s when we can help.

Discontinuing medical support has an effect on the whole family. The VITAS mission is to serve those in the end stages of lung disease, to relieve pain, control symptoms, improve quality of life and reduce anxiety for patients and their families.

VITAS meets the unique needs of patients with end-stage lung disease who wish to remain wherever they live—in their home, long term care facility or assisted living community. If the patient’s symptoms become too difficult to manage at home, a move to VITAS inpatient hospice services is an option.
