Hospice care for patients with failure to thrive and debility unspecified

If you are reading this, it is likely you or someone you love has been waging a difficult physical and emotional battle with age or disease. Maybe a life-threatening illness has stolen someone’s strength, health and independence. Or perhaps the decline is caused by age alone. In medical terms, these conditions are called “adult failure to thrive” or “debility unspecified.”

The VITAS mission is to serve those approaching the end of life, to relieve pain, control symptoms, improve quality of life and reduce anxiety for patients and their families.

VITAS meets the unique needs of patients who wish to remain wherever they live—in their home, long term care facility or assisted living community. If the patient’s symptoms become too difficult to manage at home, a move to VITAS inpatient hospice services is an option.
