If you are reading this, it is likely you or someone you love has been waging a difficult physical and emotional battle against cancer. Whether you are the patient or a relative of one, you may have spent days, months and even years seeking out the very best care you can find. At VITAS, we know your search for comfort, support and answers does not stop when you come to the realization there may be no available cure for the cancer. That’s when VITAS can help.
At VITAS Innovative Hospice Care®, we help cancer patients and their loved ones deal with the significant effects the illness continues to have on the entire family – even after the medical treatments to target the disease have stopped. It is our mission to serve those in the end stages of cancer or any other terminal illness; to control their pain, improve their quality of life and reduce the anxiety experienced by the patient as well as those who love them.
VITAS is specially designed to meet the unique needs of seriously ill cancer patients who wish to stay home and would benefit from VITAS’ broad array of services. In most cases, VITAS cares for patients where they live — at their house or other residence, such as a long-term care facility or assisted living community. At times when the patient’s symptoms become too difficult to manage at home, the patient may be moved to a VITAS facility where special care can be provided.
