VITAS Innovative Hospice Care® Promotes Jahorie
To Patient Care Administrator

Miami, Florida, June 14, 2010—Melissa Jahorie, RN, BSN, has been promoted to Patient Care Administrator for VITAS Innovative Hospice Care® of Miami-Dade/Monroe. The Weston resident brings nearly 15 years of hospital and hospice clinical and leadership experience to her new role.

As a Patient Care Administrator, Jahorie is responsible for the daily clinical operations for VITAS’ five inpatient hospice units in Miami-Dade County, which are located in Aventura Hospital and Medical Center, Hialeah Hospital, North Shore Medical Center in Miami, Metropolitan Hospital in Miami, and the University of Miami Medical Center. She supervises patient care teams, which are composed of nurses, hospice aides, physicians, social workers, chaplains and volunteers who work together to provide medical, social and emotional support to patients and their families. The VITAS Patient Care Administrator also is responsible for daily communications, quality of patient care services, employee and customer satisfaction and financial management.

Jahorie joined VITAS in 2008, first as a case manager, then as a team manager. Prior to joining VITAS, she served as a staff nurse for the Cleveland Clinic in Weston, Florida, and before that, as a case manager for Grace Hospice in Tulsa, Oklahoma. A US Navy veteran, Jahorie served from 1995 to 2000 and from 2003 to 2009 in the US Navy Reserves.

She received her RN from Rose State College, Midwest City, Oklahoma and her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Phoenix, Plantation, Florida.
