Local Physician Promoted to Associate Medical Director
For VITAS Innovative Hospice Care®

Fort Lauderdale, Florida, May 6, 2010— Marc Kaprow, DO, FACOI, of Cooper City has been promoted to associate medical director for VITAS Innovative Hospice Care® of Broward County. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing the medical care and treatment of VITAS patients in their homes and in nursing homes, assisted living communities and in VITAS inpatient hospice units at North Broward Medical Center in Deerfield Beach; University Hospital and Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale; Florida Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale; Memorial Hospital Pembroke in Pembroke Pines; and Fort Lauderdale Nursing and Rehab in Fort Lauderdale.

As a VITAS medical director, Kaprow consults with patients’ attending physicians, supervises VITAS team physicians, guides staff and volunteers, and serves as a resource to practicing physicians and other healthcare professionals on the benefits of hospice and palliative care for patients and their families.

Board certified in internal medicine, Kaprow joined VITAS in 2008 as a home care team physician. In addition to his work with VITAS, he continues his private practice as a hospitalist in Broward County. He is a clinical assistant professor in the department of internal medicine at Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Lauderdale. He also is medical director for Memorial Home Health Care, South Broward Hospital District.  

Earlier in his career, Kaprow was in private practice in Hollywood, Florida.

Kaprow received a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida in Tampa, and his medical degree from Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed internship and residency programs at POH Medical Center in Pontiac, Michigan, which is affiliated with Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is a member of the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association Board of Trustees and is vice president of the Broward County Osteopathic Medical Association.
