VITAS Innovative Hospice Care® Appoints Snapp
to Lead New Columbus Program
Columbus, Ohio, April 14, 2010—VITAS Innovative Hospice Care® announces the appointment of Janet Snapp, RN, MSN, OCN, CHPN, FPCN, to General Manager of its new Columbus, Ohio, program. The Dublin resident brings more than 30 years of healthcare and hospice clinical and leadership experience to her new role.
VITAS, the nation’s leading hospice provider, is now serving patients with life-limiting diagnoses and their families in Central Ohio, including those in Delaware, Fairfield, Franklin, Licking, Madison, Pickaway and Union counties. As general manager, Snapp manages all aspects of VITAS’ Columbus program, overseeing program operations, developing business opportunities, hiring and mentoring new staff, and representing VITAS throughout the Central Ohio community.
Snapp joined VITAS after serving nearly 20 years as a clinician and administrator for Hospice of the Bluegrass in Lexington, Kentucky, the last 15 as vice president of clinical services. During this time, she oversaw all operations for this hospice, which serves more than 1,000 patients daily, and all clinical aspects of private duty and palliative care.
The author of numerous articles in clinical journals and medical publications, Snapp received the Kentucky Hospice and Palliative Care Leadership Award in 2007 and served as co-chair of the 2004 Annual Assembly of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AAHPM) and Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association (HPNA).
Certified in hospice and palliative care nursing and in oncology nursing, Snapp received her RN from Southside Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and a bachelor’s and master’s degree in nursing from the University of Kentucky in Lexington.
