Sacramento, January 20, 2010 — Jay Henderson, of El Dorado Hills, has been appointed Director of Market Development for VITAS Innovative Hospice Care® of Sacramento, which provides care to patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families in the Sacramento Valley and the Foothills. In this role, Henderson recruits, trains and mentors VITAS representatives in educating physicians and other healthcare professionals in hospitals, assisted living communities and skilled nursing facilities about hospice and end-of-life care issues. He also represents VITAS in the community, at churches and civic organizations.
Henderson brings award-winning sales, marketing and leadership experience in the pharmaceutical and bio-medical industries to his new role. Prior to joining VITAS, he served as regional business director for Strativa Pharmaceuticals in San Francisco and, before that, as district manager for Takeda Neuroscience in Sacramento. He also has held management positions for Gemini Bio-Products and Reliant Pharmaceuticals, both in Sacramento.
Henderson received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Phoenix and also attended San Diego State University. He has served as a volunteer coach for Special Olympics since 2002 and served on the board of directors for the PolyClinic Community Health Center in Bakersfield, CA.
